Sagrada Família: understand the finale of the Spanish Netflix series

With just eight episodes, the Spanish series Sagrada Família returned to Netflix for its 2nd and final season on November 17th this year. In its conclusion, the suspense production managed to tie up all the loose ends of the narrative, which had been presented during the first year.

So the season 2 finale provides viewers with an explanation as to who ends up with Nico. In the dispute, there are Gloria (Najwa Nimri) and Natalia (Laura Laprida), who have different allies and create strategies to win.

What happens at the end of Sagrada Família?

In general terms, the Netflix series raises several questions for the public, including the idea of motherhood itself, as the main characters offer antagonistic views on the subject. Among them is Glória, who believes that everything is possible to protect her family.

His trajectory in the episodes, therefore, is marked by this way of dealing with all situations. The woman has three children: Abel (Iván Pellicer). Aitana (Carla Campra), and Nico, the latter of whom, was not her real son. By the end of Season 1, the story felt more complex than ever.

Nico is the son of Natalia and Santi (Nicolás Illoro), another son of Glória. With the death of the latter, Glória was unable to give up Nico, her grandson. At various times, Natalia even begged Glória to return her son, until she was kept trapped in the basement.

From this, many crimes and atrocities were discovered by Glória who, in addition to making Natália her prisoner, was also capable of murdering Marcos (Álvaro Rico) on behalf of Aitana. While Natália became a hostage, Fernando (Miguel Ángel Solá), her father, arranged a negotiation with Glória.

During this situation, Natalia managed to talk to Aitana and convince her to take Nico to her. Because she was pregnant with Marcos and realized everything her mother was capable of, Aitana had no choice and promoted the meeting. However, Natalia managed to take control of the situation.

Despite this, Glória was also keeping an eye on everything and made Natalia think that she had changed. Natalia reveals everything Santi wanted to do, including leaving for Argentina and staying away from her mother, as she knew she was a dangerous and manipulative person.

Abel and Glória then team up to drug Natalia, who seems harmless. However, the character also had protective maternal instincts and was willing to confront her greatest enemy in this situation. Natalia pretended that she had killed herself to throw off her father and get away from his control.

With no one in her way, she used the weapons she had to recover Nico. With Chico’s help, Natalia kidnapped Abel to blackmail Glória. What she didn’t know was that Caterina (Alba Flores) was helping Glória. Precisely so that the conflict between the two would end soon. Caterina then managed to convince Chico to help her.

In the meantime, Glória had agreed to return Nico in exchange for Abel. But with Caterina’s help, Abel was released and Aitana was already waiting for her family at the airport with fake passports. So, even when Natalia asked Chico for help, nothing happened and she was forced to give in.
With this, Sagrada Família ends with a major confrontation between most of the characters. And while Caterina shoots Chico, Abel and Aitana flee to Canada with Nico. Glória and Natalia go towards a cliff and, when Natalia believes that she will be killed at that moment. She realizes that Glória is going with her.

In the end, Glória realized that to protect Nico, he needed to live far away from both her and Natalia, as neither mother would give in and war would continue for much longer, making him suffer all the consequences
